12th Feb 2019 - New Team at UK Metals Council

Member of the UK Metals Council, UKMC, gathered in the Midlands for their regular meeting. The meeting welcomed Simon Juden, pictured left, who is the new Strategic Director for the UKMC. Simon will lead delivery of the Council’s strategy - to raise the profile of this vital part of the manufacturing supply chain as well as address issues that affect the competitiveness of the metals sector such as skills needs, apprenticeships and innovation, and champion metals as a sustainable part of the circular economy, as well as working to ensure that the employers in the sector, many of whom are SMEs, are supported and actively engaged.

Pam Murrell CEO of the Cast Metals Federation, and current Chair of the Metals Forum who fund UKMC, welcomed his appointment saying, “We are delighted to welcome Simon Juden to UKMC – with his background in developing and leading strategy, I am sure that he will be an asset to the Council and helps us to deliver on our objectives. This is a time of great challenge but also of great opportunity for metals which, as we all know, have a very important role to play in the future of UK manufacturing and the wider UK circular economy.”

Simon MacVicker, MD of Bridgnorth Aluminium Ltd, pictured right, also formerly handed over Chairmanship of the Council to Chris McDonald, CEO of the Materials Processing Institute.
